Mika Singh on Salman Khan’s Body-Shaming Stand: ‘Both Sides Need to Exercise Some Control’

Mika Singh has weighed in on the ongoing conversation around body-shaming and online trolling of celebrities, backing Salman Khan’s recent stand while also calling for responsibility from both artists and the media. The singer was speaking at the unveiling of the Society Magazine cover page, on which he features, when he was asked about Salman’s support for artists and his strong reaction to body-shaming.

Mika said, “Well, I always support Salman bhai. He has spoken quite openly about this, and I would also request the media to put a stop to such things. However, there are also artists who actually want people to make videos or take photos of them. So, it takes two to tango; both sides need to exercise some control over this.” His comments come amid renewed discussions around the way celebrities are photographed, filmed and discussed on social media.

Salman Khan recently spoke out against online trolling aimed at celebrities, particularly the comments directed at his Bharat co-star Katrina Kaif over her post-pregnancy appearance. During the latest episode of Bigg Boss 20, the actor criticised the practice of targeting public figures over their physical appearance. The incident subsequently drew attention online, with the social media personality behind the comments reportedly issuing an apology.

While Mika supported Salman’s position, his remarks also highlighted the complicated relationship between celebrities, paparazzi culture and social media. He pointed out that some artists themselves actively invite cameras and videos, suggesting that expectations and boundaries can vary from one celebrity to another. His message ultimately centred on moderation and responsibility on both sides.

Meanwhile, Mika Singh also opened up about his upcoming musical projects. Asked what he has lined up, the singer revealed that he has new music coming with Saregama and has also been working on remixes. “I certainly will. I’m going to play a song of mine here—an upcoming track. I have songs releasing with Saregama, and I’ve worked on some remixes,” he said.

Mika went on to reveal that one of his upcoming projects is a remix of a song by legendary composer R.D. Burman. “There is a lovely song by R.D. Burman—‘Nannu Ki Aankhon Mein Raat Ka Surma Aur Chaand Ka Chumma.’ It’s a beautiful song and very close to my heart. I’m bringing out a remix of it, and I’m sure you’ll all love it,” he shared, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect from his upcoming musical lineup.

The singer was also asked about his recent absence from television reality shows and whether audiences could see him return as a judge. Mika explained that he has already been part of several popular singing shows and does not like repeatedly doing the same format. “I’ve done plenty of judging. I generally don’t repeat things. I’ve done Sa Re Ga Ma and Indian Idol; I’ve been part of all the reality shows. But I don’t keep sitting on the same reality show repeatedly,” he said.

Instead, Mika revealed that his current focus remains on live performances. “Right now, we are focused on live shows. There is a difference between pop singers and playback singers; pop singers are the ones who primarily perform live shows,” he added. With new music on the way and a busy live-performance schedule, Mika Singh appears to be focusing his energies on the stage as well as fresh musical releases.
